Legal status
The Gambling Regulatory Authority Act, No. 17 of 2025, took effect on 1 December 2025. It set up a single Gambling Regulatory Authority covering casinos, online gaming and betting, and requires online operators to hold a local licence. In August 2026 the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka told telecom providers to block 24 unlicensed betting sites, including 1xBet, bet365, Betway and Stake. Later reports said 1xBet and other blocked brands were back on new domains because licensing regulations had not yet been issued.

Because of this, 1x_529930 Bonus Desk does not promote 1xBet in Sri Lanka: there are no sign-up instructions or bonus offers for Sri Lanka on this site, and our partner link does not send visitors from Sri Lanka to 1xBet.
Sport and betting in Sri Lanka
Cricket dominates betting interest, especially Sri Lanka national team matches, the IPL and the Lanka Premier League. Horse-race betting shops were legal under the old Betting on Horse-Racing Ordinance, which the 2025 Act repealed. In September 2026 the Sunday Times reported that blocked brands had returned on mirror domains while the regulator's licensing rules were still pending.
What this means for you
- Do not use VPNs or “mirror” sites to get around the law — accounts opened that way can be closed and winnings withheld, and you may break local law.
- You would have no local regulator to complain to if something went wrong.
- If betting is legal in your country, use operators licensed by your national regulator.
