Legal status
Gambling is prohibited under the Common Gaming Houses Act (Chapter 28), and for Muslims also under the Syariah Penal Code Order 2013. There is no licensed gambling of any kind, and the Royal Brunei Police Force has charged online gambling cases under the Act. Reported penalties for gambling include fines of up to BND 10,000 and up to six months in prison.

Sport and betting in Brunei
Brunei's best-known club, DPMM FC, plays in Singapore's top league rather than at home. Police raids on gambling dens continue; one in June 2026 detained 34 suspects and seized about BND 43,000 in cash.
What this means for you
- Do not use VPNs or “mirror” sites to get around the law — accounts opened that way can be closed and winnings withheld, and you may break local law.
- You would have no local regulator to complain to if something went wrong.
- If betting is legal in your country, use operators licensed by your national regulator.
